... cos it is too crowded place although it is beautiful ! But destroyed by the atmostphere of tourism !!! Then, if you like jungle, go to the northern part of Laos, as Luang Namtha, or Phongsaly (even more lost) to make treeking. Good trip

You can get your laos visa on arrival, it's 30 days visa.

I'm no expert, but I recently went to Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai...I loved Chiang Rai. Really beautiful. Not sure about water sports. You could easily explore Laos from there too. Just an idea...
