... to somewhere as when i came here for 2 hrs they gave me a 30days friggin stamp so it counts as one day..so nayway look slike lao is my best option as i ahve to be away 5 nights al together so im thinking a quick trip to ventiene luang prabang then across ...

Would enter Lao via Vientiane, head northwards and considering heading to Hanoi overland through the border crossings in either Xieng Khouang (Plain of Jars), Samneua (Viengxay Cave complex) or even through Phongsaly.

Luang Prabang has many options. One of the top of the line ones I remember seeing was $40USD a night. But it had nothing more then the beautiful guesthouses along the river which was much cheaper.

I am currently traveling to Ha Noi from Hue today, doing Halong Bay and then entering into Laos i wanted to try and get my free 60 day tourist visa while in Ha noi at the embassy there rather than at the embassy in Laos as we dont really want to travel ...

I'm kind of confused. If you are leaving from Thailand, and going to Ha Noi, and then coming back to Ha Noi, why not buy the ticket when you are in Thailand? How far in advance do you have to get your Vietnam visa?

You are right that going by bus from Vientiane to Hanoi can take that long 23-24 hours, the fact if the bus go straight then it wouldn't take that long, the bus leaves Vientiane 7 am then arrive the border 2 am, the bus stop there and wait till the ...

hey ventien- vang vieng-phonsovan-sam nua...this takes u close to the borde...make sure u arrive on the right day as buses form sam nua to hanoi leave only on certain days....i got to sam nua and made the misatek of thinking we cud get to hanoi easily ...

I think village homestays are a great suggestion....you have an amazing variety of things to do here...starting from nature exploration and cultural tours to recreational activities....it's a fun package for any travel-lover.....have a great time...
