thanks for the useful info on Petra - Are you serious about being able to set us up with trustworthy friends who can arrange sleeping in caves in Little Petra or staying in houses in the nearby Bedouin villages of Umm Sayhoun or Baida with local ...

Hi again. Tickets for Petra by Night are available form several travel agencies in Wadi Mousa or, much easier, from the Visitors' Centre at the entrance to Petra. Enjoy your evening - and please report back!

Just got back from Petra. They have brochures at the visitor centre that discourage visitors to ride donkeys, horses, camels etc. while at the archaeological site, because of the damage their hoofs cause to the site. However, it would be hard for locals ...

Sorry to read your 'Petra by Night' experience didn't quite live up to expectations but pleased that you did enjoy it despite the distractions. It would be good to see some of your photographs.

I just got back and did Petra by Night. I think for 12 dinar it wasn't worth it. You are supposed to be walking down the Siq in total silence without flash photography, but what is not mentioned is that most of the time the group will consist of ...

Yes, it's obviously a difficult balance but there does seem to be need for some control. We were at Petra last and did see some heavy thrashing of the donkeys to get them back down from the Monastery quickly so they could pick up some more "rich/lazy ...
