I've been close to Amritsar on my motorcycle, but only by accident on my way to Dharamsala. Perhaps on this trip I should go to the golden temple, stay a night or two, and report back. Time permitting, that is. Sikhs are my favorite bunch in India, ...

I work with a Sikh and he came from Amritsar, and he has said exactly the same thing about the restaurants being run by Bangladeshis. And there is nothing like the food in India

the best way to travel would be to take Train : from amritsar to chandigarh and then there is a steam engine (classic) ...its really gr8 from kalka to shimla ::: fare = just 40 rupees
