... covered by regular minibuses constantly. Once in Guatemala there are minibuses that run every half hour that take you directly to Puerto Barrios (1 hour). It sounds horrifying, but in fact it is all done pretty seamlessly, and the distances are not great ...

Another thought is to charter, or take the public bus, from San Pedro Sula to Puerto Barrios, Guatemala. Much easier now that the new road is open via Corinto. Then charter a boat in Puerto Barrios for the relatively short crossing to Punta Gorda. ...

Can you get to Guatemala or Honduras? Wikitravel and Lonely Planet say: "The only scheduled boat services into Belize are from Puerto Cortés, Honduras; Puerto Barrios, Guatemala; and from Lívingston, Guatemala."

... are in opposite directions. If you want Livingston, take the Corito road from San Pedro Sula, which will take you to Puerto Barrios. From there take the tiburonera (ferry/launch) across Amatique Bay. There is no road to Livingston. Then take the launch ...
