I strongly recommend to travel in the North of Germany. Hamburg is the nicest city in all of Germany and a visit to Berlin is a MUST. The south, e.g. Bavaria, also Heidelberg etc. is quite touristy. Happy travels!

I would recommend the north too.. Hamburg and Berlin are pretty nice! Esecially in the summertime, in the wintertime I wouldnt recommend Germany at all!

Out of bias, I would also say Bavaria, since my anscestors are from there. But if you have any roots in Germany, find out where your family comes from & go there to track down your long lost cousins. Otherwise, I'd recommend Bavaria, Berlin, ...

Yup, Berlin is happily cheaper than most of Western Europe. And definitely take public transport from the airport - if you can navigate the tube you'll be laughing on the S-Bahn.
