... was very unlikely to work in Egypt. They tried to sell me a new phone which was Tri-Band and would work everywhere with Roaming or by buying a SIM card in Egypt. It sounds like the best option is to purchase a phone over there. Problem solved. Thanks.

You do not need any shots to go to Egypt. It is recommended to have Hepatitis A, B, and Typhoid though. Having an allergy to a tetanus shot makes you susceptible regardless of the country you are in. I would probably talk to your doctor and see what ...

... you are probably spending at least $25 extra for convenience than it would be on your own. It could be much closer to $40 per person even. A lot more if any of you have student IDs because most all sites in Egypt will give 50% off for students.
