In addition to the other places you're stopping, you might want to check out Montezuma-everyone there is friendly and you can rent a hammock on the beach or stay at motel for $10. Not much for night life-the bars/restuarant closed around 11, ...

Hmm, taxi boats leave daily from Jaco to Montezuma, starting at 6am but I couldn't find out about making reservations. For the water taxi you'd be going slightly north of Jaco to Herradura Bay and catching the taxi there that takes about an hour. ...
