600yuan is a lot of money!!! I don't think I paid more than 10yuan for anything in China, except train tickets. I've been to Lijiang, Dali and Tiger Leaping Gorge. Very easy to get around by bus and very cheap.

Learning martial arts

There are quite a few schools in Yunnan, China, particularly Dali and Lijiang. For example up the hill in Dali is a temple where they teach, and just outside Lijiang at Baisha, a guy is starting up a small school teaching tai chi and other martial arts.
