... beautiful women' (and this ain't a hooker's area) monastery - go to the Wenshu monastery for panda's paws at the vegetarian restaurant. Downsides to Chengdu: often cloudy, hazy, polluted, smogy (this gives everyone a pale complexion)

I think you can get away with less than 100 Yuan a day, especially if you are going to Central China. In Chengdu I managed to get by on 45 Yuan 1 day ($6 at the time) including accomodation, food and beer It was still easy to get by on around ...
