... return to Chile. Looks like I actually didn't pass it! :-) I flew into Calama, which is way to the Northeast of Antofagasta, where the hand is located. Once in Calama, I drove North to San Pedro de Atacama, close to the Bolivian border...

I just found Semi-backpacker's blog on the subject, she landed in Santiago as well, but then she went to Valparaiso, San Pedro de Atacama and THEN Uyuni. She's pretty active on the forum, so send her a message, and hopefully she'll see ...
