Travel from Santiago to Chaiten in Chile

I want to travel from Santiago to Chaiten in Chile by land (bus or train) or sea. Can anyone tell me if this is possible to arrange in advance? I know I can get to Puerto Montt by bus. And sometimes from Puerto Montt to Chaiten by boat. I know I can go ...

Around Chaiten it seems you have to take a boat, an alternative is multiday treks in the natinal parks. While you are down there, be sure to check out Chiloe, just south of P.Montt. Normally you can get boats to Chaiten from there too.

have not driven from chaiten to balmaceda but would appreciate help from someone who has, and knows chile in feb thanks osomiel
