Driving oz is by far the best way to do it, check out Nimbim while your in Byron Bay and try the cookies! Also the most eaterly point in Oz can be found up by the lighthouse in Byron, Have a wicked time

... trail and is very very well worn. I really liked Bryon Bay...I stayed at teh Arts Factory and had an amazing time. The Nimbin tour is pretty cool too. Try to get up to the lighthouse as there are nice views of Byron Bay. Good luck and have fun!

Byron Bay was great (sidetrip to Nimbin) as well The Great Ocean Road. Sydney is a wonderful city to explore and Perth is a great place to spend Australia Day. Have fun!

... a job in a gym or something. Go for it mate, I think you'll love it! If you want to steer clear of the cities like Sydney and Melbourne, then Byron Bay is great for surf, cafes and music then there is Noosa a bit more upmarket but lush also.

I particularly liked "Beachhouse" in Mission Beach and "Art Factory" in Byron Bay. They both were really hard to leave. Good people and excellent atmosphere.
