Chiang Mai is in North Thailand. We got the bus, which was surprisingly pleasant, for the 8 hour journey. When we arrived we had been recommended a hostel called Spicy Thai. It is two houses converted into one and feels like a home! Huge communal areas which are really relaxed and the staff Pong, Nom and Hans are really helpful and friendly...

Trekking continued... it was a fantastic experience with many things new: I'd never walked up a waterfall before, first in boots and then barefoot, because the water got deeper. You'd think it's too slippy, but this one cascaded over milky-white grainy rock like sandpaper.
