My friend showed our laminated stub for transfer to airport and he told her to wait, and so we waited there in the lobby with other passengers, who are obviously not bound for the airport. ... almost untouched powder in rugged and exciting scenery. It only took us about 5 minutes to ski down most of the mountain, but then about another 2 hours to ski out of the backcountry, an experience that we all found a little tiring and frustrating at times, but also incredibly beautiful. ... and fast friends after we bought Kimono together. Apparently the snow was so heavy in Sapporo that no planes could land, which was annoying for us but also very exciting because that probably meant that the snow was going to be incredible. And we weren't wrong! Driving to the ski fields from the airport we were passing huge banks of snow on either side of the road, and the snow continued to fall all that night and for the majority of the trip so far.
