... music. Ahh. It was just a really loud, long and commanding announcement for the sightseeing boat.

I took the boat today. The water is as smooth and clear as glass - the boat simply glides through the water. Except for the diminishing shoreline, it felt completely motionless. The fairytale castle boat (look at the photo) brought me to the island of Oshima, part of Nakajima in the middle of Lake Tōya. An angry swan awaited the boat's arrival ...

... off our snowboarding week in our luxury apartment in Niseko, with breathtaking views of another nearby mountain solely from our ******* window. It made me excited to **** out all the filthy microwave food that my diet now consisted of each morning.

We stayed on the bunny hill the first day trying to get a feel for snowboarding and by the end of the day Jason and I were doing well to link our turns and I felt us ready to step up to the larger slope... ...

... making me more confident and daring!...not sure they improve my skiing though! ;) I found out from one of the skiing instructors that it is normally so cold on the slopes with so much snowfall that it wouldn't be feasible to keep bars etc. open and snow free...added to that there is normally very little sunshine so most people aren't keen to sit in a deck chair (as I'm used to!) Another instructor told me that earlier in the season ...

... to treat ourselves to a little spa time in Noboribetsu by staying at the Dai-ichi Takimoto-Kan. This sprawling hotel complex is home to a massive Onsen with 7 different types of water called Seven Onsen Heaven. ... we were at the top and could hide behind the shelter for a couple minutes. The views sadly were somewhat obscured by haze and clouds, but at least we summited the volcano and in Kim’s word “I shredded that volcano so good” on the way down.
Well, our favourite area had to be Hirafu and Hanazono, but could see with better conditions that may change to Annapuri and the side country runs past the fences. It was awesome to be back on ...
