    We took I-90 northwest past Sheridan to Route 14 (not Alt. 14). What a beautiful drive! The mountains are gorgeous teeming with purple, yellow, and white wildflowers. We stopped at Shell Falls. There is a short walking path around this area. It’s worth the extra 10 minutes to walk it.

    ... park. With some careful navigating, or more likely, skilled guessing, we found the two free campsites. Sadly, we found them RV packed with local families hunkered down for the weekend, or quite possibly the whole summer. We settled for a cheap enough campsite on the banks of Hebgen Lake.
