Good day for souvenirs!!
... museums. And, we hit the jackpot again....we managed to find our favorite junk food store again!
For our last evening in town we spent more time wandering around Dam Square looking for Amy's most wanted souvenir from Amsterdam----wooden tulips! And, thankfully, they were everywhere; now it was a big decision for what colors and how many to get. Once this mission was complete, it was time to head back to the hotel and pack for the flight to Copenhagen tomorrow.

#1 - Day 1 - Amsterdam
The eight and a half hour flight was a piece of cake. Not much sleep, but it's all good. We landed in Amsterdam this morning at 10:30, which was 2:30 am at home. We were grateful that we had pre-planned for a car to pick us up at the airport as there is no way that we would have been able to navigate public transportation with the minimal sleep that we had. Amsterdam and 7 days bike and barge
... of the dykes where land lies even temporarily. Homes are often several metres below the dyke- many of them beautiful houses and gardens of retirees from the cities. We were all the time doing a bit of orienteering, following numbers ( not in sequence) that matched our maps and doing our group consulting! Missed one or two and added 6 kms onto the day, but came thru some lovely villages we would have missed. All the while threatening rain and we battled a really heavy downpour ...

No rīta mēs ar Benjamin devāmies uz centru un satikām tur Timea. Viņa ir au-pair Nīderlandē.

Leaving Paris, Amsterdam
... The shower was blissful. Every hour 48 church bells from Westerkerk, the church right there on the corner, gave a tinkly chime and then boinged once for each hour. I loved them. They kept Kevin awake.
But before we turned in for the night we headed out for a quick walk (in the rain) to absorb some of the city and eat some dinner. We were astonished by a shopping complex building, admired the Royal Paleis and saw the Nieuwe Kerk (the New Church) next ...
