    Steamboat Lake Visit 1

Yeah, this is kind of a funny title I know. The story goes like this: We really like the look of Steamboat Lake State park, however we could only get two nights here. So we decided to take two nights here, leave for three nights and then come back.

Steamboat Lake State Park is about 24 miles off the main road. The drive here is beautiful, further confirming that Colorado is our favorite state so far. The wide open spaces the rolling ...

... br> Steamboat Springs has produced more winter Olympians than any other town in North America and is known as "Ski Town U.S.A." The downhill ski area is located on the south end of town but appears to come right down to the main street. About two blocks from the main street is the home to a permanent ski jump which is the longest continually operated ski hill in North America. Next to the ski jump are the rodeo grounds and a huge ice ...

... a really cool statue of a skiing cowboy, near some chairs by fire pits.

Ate breakfast first at the Gondola Bar and Grill - pretty good food. Rented skis, boots, and helmets at Christy's. Then got on the lift and headed up. Did Preview a couple of times just to see if we remembered how to ski. Then went up a bit further and took some greens down [Boulevard, Big Foot (blue) Swinger, Right of Way]. Stopped by the condo and got ...

... It’s still snowing. Everywhere around us is VFR. Patrick suggests that Stephan drive to Grand Junction to take his Commercial written test so he is ready for the training and checkride in Arizona. He agrees and is on his way to Grand Junction. Another evening in our mystical pool.

12/21/2010...... We are still stuck in Steamboat Springs. Pool again.
