We were greeted by a friendly bellhop who arranged for our car to be parked by a valet and help us unload our luggage. The gal at the front desk was just aa friendly, she apologized that our room wasn't quite ready, but should be available in about 30 minutes. This room would allow us to have connecting rooms tomorrow night, so the extra wait will be worth it. She even offered to check us in for the 2nd room for tomorrow for our exchange daughter's family. We will only need to go down and get the key cards.

Suzanne at the Wyndham Resorts Guest Services was also extremely friendly and helpful. She booked us for a free luncheon tomorrow to include our Exchange daughters, we will even get a voucher for free parking ( 3 days) a savings of over $108.00 plus the cost of lunch. We will be listening to a presentation, and we were promised we would not have any upgrading sales, just information about a new free program starting next year. A call from the front desk to confirm our satisfaction with our room is making this stay memorable. We even got a card under our door from suzanne confirming some things we talked about earlier and wishing us a grand visit. Not sure what else they could do to make us feel welcomed.

This was the first of our RCI bookings, and wow, what a treat. Camping 1 star background, 3 star expectations, and 5 star rooms. We were going to use the full week and soak up the luxury in this great city.

A Short Drive But a Long Day

A travel blog entry by mickey-joanne on Aug 18, 2014

Started out about 9:30 AM for our 3 hour drive from Reno to San Francisco. It took us 5 hours due to traffic. Frayed nerves was the name of the game today. We got here - unpacked (it took 2 carts) and we started putting things in places. We probably won't find anything when time to leave but thats 7 days from now.

... at the Fairfield Inn and over the course of the night and next morning - booked and cancelled a total of 7 new flights. After countless phone calls to our travel agent and airlines, 2 lost bags, more than a few "F-Bombs", a few minor meltdowns, thousands of dollars toward a brand new flights, and way too little sleep- we are set to fly out of San Fran to Christchurch tonight. Hoping the worst is behind us and better luck on attempt number ...

... graffiti on the walls and cars with mostasche's. However I didn't really like the area or feel safe. There was a lot of homeless people, although we have found this quite common in America so far it just felt a bit shady and I didn't want to stick around any longer. So we got the metro to the port and went to dinner at the Hard Rock cafe which is on pier 39.

The next day we got up early and headed to the cable car museum for when it opened. It is ...

The last few days have been full of highs and lows. I got my first bout of homesickness on my first night in San Francisco...

I checked into my hostel. The guy checking me in gave me a map. He marked the hostel I was currently at, the hostel around the corner and then drew a box marking some streets in between... "Don't go in this area, it's full of crazy people and drug dealers". Wonderful. I dumped my stuff and went out to get some dinner at Chipotle (kinda like Barburrito ...

... simply trying to get through the city with a drive across the Golden Gate Bridge. This was a real highlight and after parking the other side of the bridge a quick walk was deemed the best case of action. As most people know San Fran is very very very windy. This, coupled with being on a sixty seven metre high bridge, meant that Josh could only make it out halfway across the bridge. After taking in the views of the city it was time to see what Golden Gate Park had ...
