We were greeted by a friendly bellhop who arranged for our car to be parked by a valet and help us unload our luggage. The gal at the front desk was just aa friendly, she apologized that our room wasn't quite ready, but should be available in about 30 minutes. This room would allow us to have connecting rooms tomorrow night, so the extra wait will be worth it. She even offered to check us in for the 2nd room for tomorrow for our exchange daughter's family. We will only need to go down and get the key cards.

Suzanne at the Wyndham Resorts Guest Services was also extremely friendly and helpful. She booked us for a free luncheon tomorrow to include our Exchange daughters, we will even get a voucher for free parking ( 3 days) a savings of over $108.00 plus the cost of lunch. We will be listening to a presentation, and we were promised we would not have any upgrading sales, just information about a new free program starting next year. A call from the front desk to confirm our satisfaction with our room is making this stay memorable. We even got a card under our door from suzanne confirming some things we talked about earlier and wishing us a grand visit. Not sure what else they could do to make us feel welcomed.

This was the first of our RCI bookings, and wow, what a treat. Camping 1 star background, 3 star expectations, and 5 star rooms. We were going to use the full week and soak up the luxury in this great city.

Eventually a cable car pulled up that was full except for a little bit of room in the back next to the break engineer. Grampa told Mom and I that we should go, so we did, quickly, with no time to question him. We hopped up and held on. It was an awesome ride. We were uphill, downhill, whizzing up and down the streets, past pretty houses and hilly roads. We were sharing the space with a nice man who spoke broken English. He kept making jokes with us about ...

... never complain about my street again! Was it worth the walk. Indeed it was. So pretty and the views from the top were amazing.

We then decided to go to Pier 39 for a Clam Chowder Boudin for lunch. We walked and walked and walked and finally caught a taxi the rest of the way. We were ready for our soup when we got there and really enjoyed it.

We then went on a cruise around ...

    ... fantastic stuff.

Our next day we had planned a full day of wine tasting in Napa Valley along route 29. We began by driving via St Helena to line the stomachs with coffee and the most delicious cardamom bun - almost as good as your Mum’s cinnamon buns, Lina! Onwards to Sterling Vineyard, as recommended by Michelle, another new contact we met on a bus in Galapagos and a resident of San Francisco. She advised that Sterling had a gondola ride so we ...

I bought some Nike (Ny-kees). Ryan and I wanted new shoes that are both comfy and that we can wear with everything - such a hard ask. Let me tell you - e v e r y b o d y wears nikes (or equivalent), with everything. They are the more casual styles of shoes, but dare I admit it - ...

San Francisco is a busy town, full of activity, people coming and going, and everything is compact and squeezed into a much smaller space than LA....look forward to exploring it tomorrow and over the next few days. This is our last mainland stop before we head to Hawaii in 4 days time....this also marks the 'half way' point of our ...
