      Canterbury Tales Wyndham Style

We were greeted by a friendly bellhop who arranged for our car to be parked by a valet and help us unload our luggage. The gal at the front desk was just aa friendly, she apologized that our room wasn't quite ready, but should be available in about 30 minutes. This room would allow us to have connecting rooms tomorrow night, so the extra wait will be worth it. She even offered to check us in for the 2nd room for tomorrow for our exchange daughter's family. We will only need to go down and get the key cards.

Suzanne at the Wyndham Resorts Guest Services was also extremely friendly and helpful. She booked us for a free luncheon tomorrow to include our Exchange daughters, we will even get a voucher for free parking ( 3 days) a savings of over $108.00 plus the cost of lunch. We will be listening to a presentation, and we were promised we would not have any upgrading sales, just information about a new free program starting next year. A call from the front desk to confirm our satisfaction with our room is making this stay memorable. We even got a card under our door from suzanne confirming some things we talked about earlier and wishing us a grand visit. Not sure what else they could do to make us feel welcomed.

This was the first of our RCI bookings, and wow, what a treat. Camping 1 star background, 3 star expectations, and 5 star rooms. We were going to use the full week and soak up the luxury in this great city.

A Short Drive But a Long Day

A travel blog entry by mickey-joanne on Aug 18, 2014

Started out about 9:30 AM for our 3 hour drive from Reno to San Francisco. It took us 5 hours due to traffic. Frayed nerves was the name of the game today. We got here - unpacked (it took 2 carts) and we started putting things in places. We probably won't find anything when time to leave but thats 7 days from now.
We had a really good Italian …

... some distance, it was time for a refreshment....Heeelllloooo Ghirardelli Chocolate Shop (underneath Ghirardelli Square in the Mariner Area). Crunchy Sea Salt Caramel Sundae...don't mind if I do (Dan, I'm stealing your 'line'...LOL)!! At first I was a little 'taken aback' with the US$10.50 price-tag (about $15 in AUS $$ terms with the exchange rate) BUT...it was SOOOO worth it...LOL!! It was a bucket of Sundae and I figured I had already burnt off the calories with my ...

I drove the car up from San Diego to San Francisco for a few hours. Not so bad considering it's an automatic and it's the wrong side of the street.
Once we arrived on Saturday evening we settled down and got everyone ready for bed.
On Sunday I ventured out and went to the Golden Gate bridge. Even though I missed the walking tour by 15 minutes I enjoyed it and walked across the bridge with a new friend from Australia I met on the bus.

So, we've been in a crowne plaza, we have reeked up burningman, we then went to a Marriott deluxe room, then drove to San Fran, stayed at a dodgy as **** petrol station, waaaay out in the sticks. stayed in a local park then onto a car park. (don't worry mum, we were in the camper) this whole trip has been one extreme to another. We eat at a posh restaurant in San Fran for tea followed by a McDonald's for breakfast. After leaving burningman and staying in the best ...

Two weeks Road Trip in the US

16th June – Vegas to Page

It's time for our big American road trip. An American trip is incomplete without one and we wanted to make sure that we saw the western part of the country well. As soon as we landed at McLaren International Airport in Las Vegas we took a free bus provided by car rental companies and headed to Hertz to pick up our car. Looks like most road trips start or end in Vegas and therefore the free bus service to and from the airport. ...
