      Canterbury Tales Wyndham Style

We were greeted by a friendly bellhop who arranged for our car to be parked by a valet and help us unload our luggage. The gal at the front desk was just aa friendly, she apologized that our room wasn't quite ready, but should be available in about 30 minutes. This room would allow us to have connecting rooms tomorrow night, so the extra wait will be worth it. She even offered to check us in for the 2nd room for tomorrow for our exchange daughter's family. We will only need to go down and get the key cards.

Suzanne at the Wyndham Resorts Guest Services was also extremely friendly and helpful. She booked us for a free luncheon tomorrow to include our Exchange daughters, we will even get a voucher for free parking ( 3 days) a savings of over $108.00 plus the cost of lunch. We will be listening to a presentation, and we were promised we would not have any upgrading sales, just information about a new free program starting next year. A call from the front desk to confirm our satisfaction with our room is making this stay memorable. We even got a card under our door from suzanne confirming some things we talked about earlier and wishing us a grand visit. Not sure what else they could do to make us feel welcomed.

This was the first of our RCI bookings, and wow, what a treat. Camping 1 star background, 3 star expectations, and 5 star rooms. We were going to use the full week and soak up the luxury in this great city.

Started out about 9:30 AM for our 3 hour drive from Reno to San Francisco. It took us 5 hours due to traffic. Frayed nerves was the name of the game today. We got here - unpacked (it took 2 carts) and we started putting things in places. We probably won't find anything when time to leave but thats 7 days from now.

... We did an audio tour, which was really well done and narrated by both former inmates and former staff so the various parts of the prison were brought to life with their stories. The prison only operated for 30 years, but housed the roughest of the rough so the stories are really interesting. On a pseudo creepy note, one former inmate could be found signing his newly published book in the gift shop!! I've attached his story and photo. A bit ...

Back into the city proper and we manage to get our phonecards without too much drama (although I can never understand why it takes such a long time to set up phone-related stuff). All this high drama has exhausted Paul and we have to slink around the corner to Dave's Bar for a quick restorative pint before the next leg. Without too much of a ...
