KM 29.4 San Jose Del Cabo, Los Cabos, Baja California, Mexico, 23400
Wow! This place is beautiful. We got in yesterday afternoon after a four hour flight from Seattle. Spent yesterday afternoon fighting off timeshare-oil salesmen (they're thick as stink on a manure wagon as you're leaving the airport). Finally got to "here", got checked in and then ran up to the Mega (a mexican version of Walmart) for the week's groceries. Dinner was tuna fish sandwiches and chips. After that we both just crashed. We have a one room villa with a veranda that looks out over the...
San Jose del Cabo, Mexico seattlemanHoly Cow! What a racket last night. This is supposed to be the "sleepy" end of Cabo but let me tell you, these Hombres y Mujheres know how to make some noise! Last night Gina and I decided to hit the sack around 11:00 pm. MamaMia's was doing its best to put on a New Year Eve's party but after listening to the music and the MC for about 5 minutes, both of us were very glad we had not spent the $70.00 to attend (it was pretty sad...). Anyway, we're watching the ball fall in New York (on TV) whe...
San Jose del Cabo, Baja California, Mexico seattleman... flowers is odd seeing we left uk in winter time.
Have great table mates for dinner on the ship, and the food and enterainment is really good. In fact if you wanted to you could come on the ship and just spend 2 weeks eating yourself to death - there is food around every corner, all day every day. Room service breakfast on the balcony is nice though.
Also seeing some fabulous sunsets as we are at sea each night at sundown
This is our 1st cruise port, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
Itīs a small village with lots of street vendors. We found a cute, small open-air bar and shared margaritas with 2 surfers, one from Vancouver Island, the other from Hawaii.
Thereīs a rock here called Landīs End and it was a beautiful sight at sunset.
Weīre in the heat and loving it!
... the way back, we see this harbour seal following a fishing boat back into port. The seal decides that it would be easier to hitch a ride back on the back of this boat, so up he goes. Damn, camera put away...
Sailing out of Cabo, we witness one of the most fiery sunsets on our trip.
It just seemed to hang there for about 30 minutes. Once the sun finally set and just before it was ...
... that the local tequila is incredibly good here. They have also discovered that the tequila shops give out free samples and now we can't walk past a shop without stopping.
Zach left this morning so we plan on getting the boat re-stocked and trying to take off towards La Paz in the morning. There are several anchorages on the way that we hope to stop at for a day or two and just relax after the craziness of Cabo.
... our gear doesn’t fare quite so well against hundreds of pounds of kelp. The boys managed to get it most of the way fixed but it still didn’t work quite right and so we avoided using it for the rest of the trip. Another great passage to hone my steering abilities!
Day 4 was pretty awesome. We were graced by a group of dolphins then right after they slipped away a huge group of whales swam with us for a while. It ...
... br>Trip was fast and seas were rough - it was a blast.
After dropping off Anthony, we went out to the point. There is a spot where the seals lay out and our guide started calling to them (was kind of freaky how accurately he sounded).
We took endless pictures - it was really amazing to see eveything up close.
Got back about 45 minutes later. Worth EVERY penny!
Not much to see in CSL - so we rode the tender back.
... The violence is segregated to isolated areas (like the border towns) and in no way are tourists or foreigners being targeted. On the contrary, the tourist destinations have so far resisted the influence of the cartels because of the availability of legitimate jobs. Typically the drug trade takes root where economic conditions are depressed and people are forced to deal in contraband.
Third - the economic downturn/crisis. This was ...
... it has a beautiful plaza with a church and coloured fountains. Of course there are all the usual souvenir shops, at double the prices of everywhere else and lots and I mean lots of very expensive looking restaurants. In fact these is the finest display of restaurants I have seen in a long time, but the prices were what you would pay in America or the UK. So we asked the locals where we could ...
