      ... passage through Phoenix, dust storms south of town, but we got off on the back road again, through Florence. Stopped to potty at Wal Mart outside Florence. VERY scary! Walmartians everywhere! Going to chill for the weekend before we take off for New Mexico Monday morning.

      Our first full day. It was SO nice to get outside, sit by the pool, and feel the warmth. Probably 70 degrees, beautiful clear weather. Great place to rejuvenate after months of cold and snow and a long trip yesterday. Tonight, we had dinner with Ken and Glenna Webster, who were celebrating their 11th wedding anniversary. Dinner at the MountainView clubhouse, where Ed will play golf tomorrow. Did I mention, first golf since November 5th?

      Today we arrived in Tucson Arizona, at a friends house who I used to work with. Tom Mooney and his wife Carol. They have a beautiful house with a beautiful view out their back door.       ... rhino- even if it was in captivity! We also saw many bears (my first time seeing any!) but most exciting was the polar bear; it seems cruel to keep an arctic animal in the desert, but apparently they are able to live in both hot and cold climates. When we were walking past the reptile house, a snake lady was holding one of the small breed of pythons they have there and said we could pat it! Snakes feel so unusual, but pleasantly so.
