... didn't get to see any deer or black bears (which are common here). Then we drove back to Snowmass Village where we had lunch in town. ... village area where there was a huge concert going on....all of our kind of music: music from the 80's, including reggae. Lots of flower-power people dancing up a storm. Was fun to be a part of that. Tons of little shops, outdoor market type tents set up to sell lots of things like crystals, flower-power clothes, jewelry, etc. Was a fun time had by all. Came home and crashed - completely exhausted.

... is now a Costco and a Walmart and the development on the way to Aspen was solid all the way to Basalt. Golf courses and condominium developments everywhere. We counted more than 50 private jets at the Aspen Air and knew the town would be crowded. All of the two story smaller motels along the highway near Buttermilk no longer existed or were now employee housing. ...

We onLy had time to hang out in Aspen for a few hours before taking off to (hopefully) find a camping spot...our first attempt at Maroon Bells was a wash so we headed back to Our beloved Independence Pass to "Difficult Campground"....they got it backwards!!! We left Price early in the morning for another hot day. We continued down US 6 to Green River and then headed east on I 70 to the Welcome Center at the first exit in Colorado. There was a quite a lot to do in this Grand Mesa area and Grand Junction but most of it involved long side trips and we are a little tired at this point.
