    Friday 10 October 2014

Mt Washington is 6288 feet high, so since we were in the vicinity, we decided to do a day's hike up to the top. The mountain has the reputation of having the world's worst weather, totally unpredictable and extreme. Undeterred, we headed off in glorious weather, puffing a bit since we were out of form. As we climbed up through the trees, the weather turned and what had been a beautiful day turned into a tremendous storm, ...

... br> Yesterday's fine weather was almost duplicated today, except that we woke to a frost and a distinct nip in the air. The car's windshield (gerrit) was frozen over too and many a credit card could be seen scratching at the glass outside the motel. Now this has to be the quintessential New England town! It is my favorite place so far. Of course staying at the Woodstock Inn may have contributed to that. We walked the quaint downtown and over to the The Billings Farm & ...

... to the Royal Show back home, was that it was a lot smaller and didn't have any showbags!

The petting zoo was probably one of my favourite bits, as we got to pet a donkey, a yak, and even a zebra! After getting some dinner, we also decided that we should try caramel apples - seeing as they are a bit of an American specialty as well. I got one that was not only dipped in caramel, but also mini M&Ms, and Jess had hers ...

... anymore. Maine is getting really close! I'll be in New Hampshire tomorrow. I'm going through some mountains, and my legs aren't keeping up as well as I'd like. I upped my protein and started massaging and stretching more today. Hopefully it helps, because I have some steep stuff coming up. I couldn't go as far as I wanted today because the campgrounds are limited in this ...
