... Pass Road was now closed because of 10 inches of snow! The only option was to drive back south and find a lower altitude crossing over the Sierras from east to west, then drive north again to Yosemite National Park.

Leaving Yosemite National Park on the east side you head down a pretty spectacular road into Lee Vining Canyon with the Sierra Nevada range behind you and Mono Lake ahead.
