Birthday in the big city
We head off for Brisbane; another big city. Finally a place with public transport!
... even cost 20 a night for both of us so I was a little suspicious. It was good and bad; good because it turned out to be a right dump and the reviews were awful listing things such as dirty rooms with bed lice and cockroaches, the staff being very intimidating and paint peeling of the walls with dirty toilets – not the place where you want to spend your time! Bad because it now meant spending the morning stressing and trying to find somewhere ...
The 26 and a half hour flight
... heading south on the plane to Blenheim to meet my elective supervisor Grant and his wife Lis. They're actually on the same plane from Auckland so I'll be a bit disheveled when I met them but sure it could be worse. On a side note, I've discovered Downton Abbey on the flight, what a class show, has kept me entertained between restless, cramped naps! ...
Busy in Brissy
... bit too far and too much to trek up to the Australia Zoo this time, but Lone Pine was an easy bus ride from the CBD and a really pretty and well run place. We both really had a good time too. I think Maximus really like us as his parents, we were sorry to leave him behind but he was actually quite heavy and man do those koalas just basically sleep and poop all day long while they are up there looking so cute! >got off the bus to wonder through Southbank ...
The land of Oz
... We did the coastal walk down to Coogee bay, stopping for lunch at a park on the way. Once there we went to a dive shop and i bought some new snorkel gear :) we then headed back to Sydney and went out for drinks in the evening as it was our last evening together for Emily was flying off to America to visit her family in Portland, Oregon.
