Going Japanese

A travel blog entry by louisegandolfi

24 hours in New Zealand… its raining… however I had the foresight to book myself into a hotel called the Shakespeare hotel that had an awesome bar with its own microbrewery that stayed open till 7am! Due to the rain and the attractive bar I decided to fob off sightseeing Auckland and service the bar chatting to lots of business …

At sea, day 4

We sailed through the Japanese sea in overcast cool, weather. Spent breakfast planning our activities for today. First stop, morning trivia! Then off to the gym followed by line dancing. We had a quiet afternoon sitting in the bar and enjoying the ...

... take turns sitting at a table to eat. That's Tokyo! The highlight of the day was finding a Studio Ghibli store. If you've ever seen any of the films of Hayao Miyazaki, such as My Neighbor Totoro or Spirited Away, then you can imagine our delight. So many wonderful items! Vowing to buy an extra piece of luggage, we returned to the apartment for ...

... was the first time I had ever been on a plane. I don't have a fear of flying, I was just too poor to ever go anywhere that I couldn't drive to. I should advise anyone reading this who has NOT been on a plane before, make sure your first time isn't a 12.5 hour flight. It might put you off flying for a bit. The location was perfect - Asakusa/Sankoku station was pretty in the center of all the areas we wanted to visit in our one week trip. The facility was extremely accommodating and the rooms were decently clean. There were plenty of convenience stores nearby to grab some snacks, breakfast food and drinks. I would go back if I stayed in Tokyo next time!
