Home again This morning we awakened to the sound of rain beating on the cabin. A look outside shows bleak surroundings. We are the only transient boat at Casper's Marina. The weather threatens to keep us here unless the front passes over us and we can get ahead of the rain. Maggie goes to shower and I focus on what the weather is doing. We found an awesome trail that was actually about 20miles long, so we picked a spot to start and ...

A travel blog entry by ktchris on Nov 13, 2014

We had planned to spend the afternoon doing a little drive to the next big town in North Carolina but what we found was not all that inviting. After seeing the rolling hills of Pennsylvania, the Virginian Mountains, the Kentucky horselands, and the friendly people of Tennessee, North Carolina was a bit of a downer. It was flat and kind of ...

... morning I navigated RT through the narrow streets around central Raleigh and then drove 3 hours to New Bern on North Carolina's Central Coast. The city is at the confluence of the Neuse and Trent Rivers. The Neuse eventually empties into a bay and then the Atlantic. This section of North Carolina coast is sheltered from the Atlantic by Cape Lookout National Seashore. The Farmer's Market ...
