... ski gondala station, which signalled the end of the hike up the hill, was the most enjoyed vista of the day.

The fact we saved $40 by walking up the trail ($20 per person uphill, downhill free), was surprisingly little comfort in mitigating our mood....too soon.

After the 3 hour hike we bounced back to the car and went to find some Hemingway moments. The monument just outside of town was quaint, his crave site was alive. It was covered in full bottles ...

The Real Wilderness

Sophie said she would go back to float again sometime, but for the rest of us it was a once in a lifetime experience (and David had done it when he was 10), but definitely worth doing. It requires walking and wading through millions of brine gnats and brine shrimp, but if you can ignore that for a few minutes it's a cool experience. Definitely not a place ...

Long, long drive

We woke early and drove the twenty five miles to the Hells Canyon Dam and Visitor Center which was not open. This again was a beautiful drive and the light was stupendous early in the morning. We did have to backtrack to Cambridge and then began our series of scenic highways on our way to Ketchum for the night. We first went north on 95 to 55 to ...
