After breakfast, Sue was walked down to the shore of Lake Bled and passed off to one of the oarsmen of the local pletna boats. Holding up to 20 people, these traditional boats have been used to take people to the church on the island in the middle of the lake since the 1500s. Sue spent the morning at the island and ...

... to be printed and then were stuck behind the meandering sea of *******s for most of our visit. Nevertheless, the castle itself was seriously impressive and we enjoyed visiting the silversmith, printworks and wine cellar. The tour groups on the other hand were instead outside on the ramparts, perilously close to the vertical drop down the cliff face, merrily, as you guessed it, taking selfies.

We couldn’t help but secretly wish one of them might fall ...
