Coming to an end

Today was the last day of the conference. I had lunch with the vegetarians today. ;) Norway is seriously not a vegetarian country. And when it comes to prefix meals, gaurenteed it's gonna be loaded with meat. So me and a PhD student from Stuttgart tracked down the Indians and we went upstairs and hit the salad bar! Soooo much better than the food that was being served downstairs. I sat and talked with him and a gal from Istanbul, also a PhD student. This was my ...

Soooo sleepy

... away at him for days. I didn't think it was that strange to see a girl with short hair like this, it's grown out now so does't look shaved, but it gets comments wherever I go, even from Aussies!

Still yet to meet anyone who can correctly guess my nationality. Even after hearing me talk they think I am British!

Hoping when I get to Herdis' place I can upload some photos from my time in New York etc.

More sight-seeing than you can shake a stick at

... all the money they save by not using modern day street lights and turn signals was saved for paying for this? Yes, I'm joking. I just have seen and driven through enough goofy, turn-arounds to appreciate a good old-fashioned stoplight. Boy, I guess you'd never think I'd say that huh, Mom? Anyway, we stepped inside for a peek and was able to look around, but the seating area and stage were closed to the public. That's o.k., once I make it ...

... done in a day but we did miss the nightlife and the famous outdoor activities (aka skiing for the energetic people). Weather: Blizzard but surprisingly not cold (yes don't laugh you can have chilled to the bone cold and then there is surprisingly bearable snow weather). Visibility: Limited. Coffee: A must!! Dominating the Oslo harbour front, is the medieval Akershus Castle & Fortress (slott and festning - the perfect place for a snow fight and ...

... liked. Nothing much more to say... Akershus Slott - actually, kinda lame. They said there was a self guided tour, but it was really just a couple of posters with a tiny bit of information, and not really that much to see. Also saw the changing of the guard here. How many of those do you think I'll see that on this trip?? Norsk Folkemuseum - its an open air museum with a collection of traditional houses from all over Norway. They had some ...

... are just so many different types of beautiful waterways here; fjords, waterfalls, rivers absolutely everywhere. I've lost count of the amount of waterfalls we've seen - you can see now how Norway has 9 of the 20 highest waterfalls in the world. The mountains are still snow capped and there's still a fair bit of snow around, we drove up as high as 1300m to come over a pass and all of the lakes were still frozen - Josh took a fantastic panoramic photo at 1020m outside the town of ...

THE STORY SO FAR

... the journey would start with a bus to Harwick and then a ferry to the hook of Holland and then another bus to Amsterdam but in fact the bus left Victoria coach station for Dover and the ferry ride was then to Calais with the bus then passing through Belgium and onto Holland. Somewhat longer than i had thought. With the accommodation escape i had made the day before and now this I'm starting to feel that i should start planning things a bit more. My take each day as it comes ...

Going home

June 28th it was time to go home, The bus back to Trondheim was set to leave at 1 p.m (13:00) This would be an boring trip back, so we bought a few magazines, newspapers and plenty of food and sweets to keep us full and entertained for the 8hour drive. The drive went by slowly, and we were looking forward to coming home when we came closer to Trondheim, but about 45 minutes before we were set ...

First Day in Oslo

... and admired views of the city and the fjord until I started feeling hungry and thirsty. After touring the castle, I came across this little coffee shop, where I got some chocolate cake for later and something to drink (which I believe I got water...I don't remember or I might have gotten coffee...) After having my snack and my glass of water or whatever I drank, I finally headed back to the hostel. Four hours had passed ...
