Day 10: Florence
... and the writer of the Divine Comedy. Come ON!! I geeked out a bit. Not to mention, the cathedral itself was stunning, as we the cloisters and courtyard outside. We headed back to the apartment and Mom cooked us a fantastic pot roast with potatoes, carrots, mushrooms, onions, and a salad. We enjoyed the delicious dinner around the large dining room table, sipped champagne, talked, laughed, and enjoyed the evening. Day 9: Florence
... we walked more than 400 stairs to the top of the tower for a spectacular view of the city. It hurt, but it was worth it. It gave us a better idea of the size if the city, which is pretty small and walkable. After that, we stopped for some pizza and walked down to the Uffizi, the famous museum that houses Renaissance masterpieces by the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, you know... ... claustrophobic anyway. For dinner we both had a Tuscan specialty. I had the "boiled twice" breaded vegetable soup - yummmy, and Ross had the pasta with truffles. After dinner we strapped on our iPods and did another of the "Rick Steve's " walks, from the Duomo to the Arno river and Ponto Vecchio.
