... the Hilton. We drove downtown for dinner and had a very nice one at Einer Ben, recommended by a guide book as probably the best cooked dinner one would have in Iceland. We started with a very rich lobster soup and followed with lamb risotto (Betsy) and grilled salmon (for me). We wandered up the shopping street for a few souvenirs and then back to the hotel. After surviving the week and passing my exam I headed for split, qualified and inexperienced, ready to tackle a week of sailing with my brothers.
On my second night I woke up with no passport and no wallet. Nothing! no access to money, and no way to prove my identity. There was nothing to do but wait it out for three days until a mate of mine would arrive, and drink the time away with the my new friend and ...

March 15th-18th We had left Zagreb late but made up time and made it to Split on time. The owner of our guesthouse was coming to meet us so we were worried she'd be waiting when we arrived. Well, she wasn't there and we waited and waited and waited. Maybe she thought since our train left late that we would be late. She told us to call her if we had any problems, but no one would dial her number on their phone because it was a mobile number. Mom went and bought a phone card that ...
