Wet goodbye to Rome

A travel blog entry by debnsam on Jul 22, 2014

Finally Jane and I met up! Each of us had been calling the other, me via viber and Jane via roaming, no wonder we never connected Monday night! We met at Campo Di Fiori and Jane got a bit of shopping I before we got caught in a downpour! My shoes were slipping on the cobblestones and in an effort to avoid a fall, I hade to remove my shoes, roll up my trousers and go bare foot through the markets and streets to Jane's cousins house. We could not walk back to my hotel to ...

... Adriatic. Dick was trying to take a picture of me on my camera but kept saying it wouldn't work. I kept calling from the water that it was probably in video mode. He kept yelling "no". If he's not good, I may share ...

For the first time we were checked by immigration / customs at the border of Slovenia and Croatia. At Zagreb we discovered that there was no train today so we would have to catch the bus. It took some working out as not much ...

... found some quiet steps to chill on. We met a little kitten which we named Pringles because it ate all our chips. Eventually we were hungry for real food, so we found a cheap restaurant and stuffed ourselves with risotto, calamari, pizza and veggies. And more wine. We ended up at a tiny bar in an alleyway, danced the night away, making even more international friends, and caught the water taxi back to the marina at very silly hours! Jens was up early the next morning to get us ...

The Balkans - Split

... one was like vodka with plum juice. It wasn't as strong as Palinka, thank God! Didn't take long before we got in the mood for dancing. It's only now that I am really feeling the bond of the group. Shame, it's the last night.

Last stop was the best one. An open air bar, right next to the sea. At first there were only our group dancing. The DJ was cool enough to realise we're mostly Aussies (maybe from the drunken behaviour, haha!) and played Aussie hits. ...
