    Yesterday we came up from the beach, exited the elevator, and what do I see on the rug in front of our door? My orange tank top! We all did a celebration dance. Like many other “things” from our American life, I appreciate it more having been without.

    ... looking over the valley, which, to our surprise has the brilliant turquoise waters of the Embalsa de Guadalest dam right below us. The view is spectacular, across to the steep mountains and up the valley where we can see several compact villages, each with one or more church towers.

    The dam is pretty empty, but the water looks clean, and the colour more a chemical green and not an algal bloom. There is what looks like a house boat on the dam, a small settlement ...
