... The final part of our tour was a walk through the main city centre of Heraklion- with its old historic buildings, lovely Orthodox Church, fountains and modern day brand name shops! Lance and Liam managed to add to their haul with a couple of large Greek warriors. God knows how overweight we will be on our trip home. This really felt like a home cooked meal as Maria cooked the food ten feet from us in her oven and brought the salad to our table with the small glasses for wine. Kids, too. Kids in Greece stay out late. Surprisingly late. The result of a dearth of electronics and limited cable/internet I'm sure.

... given that it was a manual with a strange way of getting into reverse that almost caused us lots of trouble on the first day of the car hire.

Day three in Crete is, sadly, our last day here. We are getting picked up at midday to be taken to the airport for a flight to Rhodes, and our last island stop in this part of the holiday.

There is a little time to head into the centre of town, where I (luckily) found myself not one, but two ...
