... great! The current is very strong so I struggled a little at first but soon got my rhythm. I know how long it takes me to swim 1/2 mile so I went a little longer than that since I had flailed around at the beginning. I did it! Got in my 1/2 mile and I know I'll be doing that throughout the cruise. :-). While I was swimming other people also tried it - seems like they were just waiting for someone to be brave.

We used one of our vendors, ShoreTrips, and booked an excursion to tour St. Kitts and then spend time at a beach. It was delightful. We learned so much about the island and our driver was exceptional. We ended up at another Carambola Beach! (We were at Carmbola Beach, the day before in St. Croix!) Apparently, Carambola means STARFRUIT! Which if any of you really know me, stars have played a major role in my life's path.

... had to find the money for a private ultrasound and leave the hospital to go and et it at a small private clinic in town. On Friday evening we went for dinner at Mr Xs Shiggedy Shack on the beach in Frigate Bay. We then went to a party which was being held for all the new vet students at Ross University. We couldn't believe how American the party was. There was free rum punch until 11 - at Bart's the bar would have constantly been busy then, but it wasn't! We danced till ...

... only seems to be Consultants in the hospital, with no juniors, and actually witnessed a Consultant taking blood today, something unheard of at home!! We also walked past the hospital yesterday to see a herd of goats wandering around the grounds! We have met some other elective medical students from Edinburgh and Leicester which is nice, and are going for dinner with them in Frigate Bay tomorrow. Update ...

... the Swedes and traces the old spice route to Canton and back. Our Captain was the Captain on this voyage. tea and clocksies at 1700hrs on deck. Our afternoon sail to Friar's Bay St. Kitts is cancelled due to the 25 mph winds. We weigh anchor and head towards St. Barts about 134 nm. Dinner and joined by Clare a New Yorker.
