We weren’t sure what to expect of this street pantomime and to be honest we left feeling just as confused as we tried to follow the sort of storyline why everyone was getting shot, but it turned out the bandits won and a lot of blanks were fired, that we can be sure of!

... which accounts for the incredible geothermal activity across the park, all stemming from the magma churning underneath. We saw hot springs, geysers, fumeroles and mud pots with the vibrant colours of the thermophiles (bacteria that love hot water) living in them.
