... in our glory until the next match up which with these two will probably be pretty soon.
Louise made us a lovely curry later that night. Nom nom nom. Can't wait for Indian food when we get back to England.
We gave the Daiquiri shack one more farewell visit. Tonight racist Rob/Ron was there and the Lady and we got to hear them having a ...

Back at our campsite we went for an evening swim and a walk along the beach (all very romantic stuff i think you'll agree). Met up with the Sachs who were once again showing off their culinary skills with a Steak and Mozzarella dinner. Me and Les went for an equally challenging dinner of Nutella and peanut butter sandwiches.

Stopped at the Daiquiri shack to try another flavor but this time the rigid woman who owns it was there and they were good but just not as generous and delicious. oh well...I'm at the beach who can complain.
... steps from our site. Here we met a fabulous Daiquiri Shack worker named Rob, who although he turned out to be quite a bit racist he did make quite delicious Daiquiris.
Tomorrow is my birthday so I'm excited to find out what surprises Les has in store for me. It's sure to be a good one since i did quit my job and take her around America.
Point of note today we broke through the 7000 miles driven barrier.
Boys are still in Tallahassee, so I got to spend time w my sisters, taking them to see the houses I saw & they loved my favorite one! We laugh so hard when we're together! Lunch at Finn's & I am learning my way around pcb! Picked up the boys & got ready to leave for northern Alabama. Went over to visit w one of my favorite people, Shea's mom, Wendy. I just love her! Took the kids to Funtown where we played lots of games (skeeball!) & won lots of ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Top of the Gulf Suites Panama City Beach
Holes, Mold and Rust
I was in Panama City Beach for a softball tournament and stayed at Top of the Gulf. The 1970's harvest gold appliances blended well with the holes in the walls in the halls. A musty, moldy dresser in the closet added an unpleasant odor to the entire room. The rusty metal doorframes and doors that would hardly open added to the disappointment. The entire condo needs to be gutted and refurbished. This is by far the worst condo I have ever visited.
This was our first time to Panama City Beach and the room that we had at Top of the Gulf was very nasty. I was on the verge of tears when we first walked into our room it smelled musty, the carpet was very stained and it was just dirty and outdated. The couch had stains on it that looked like feces and I would not allow my children anywhere near it. The beds were old and worn out. One bed folded down out of the wall and the other one was a fold out couch. There were not sheets to fit the couch and the pillows that were in the so called closet were dirty and smelled like a dirty head. Luckily there were clean pillowcases (I assumed they were clean since they smelled like bleach) in the closet. All of the blankets stunk. The beds were so worn out that the frames literally sunk in the middle causing me severe pain in my lower back in the morning. The bathroom was so small that even one person could barely move in it. The full length window did not appear safe at all...the glass was very thin, it would not of taken much for a small child to lean up against it and fall out of it. I immediately felt mad because of the money that we spent on this room and it was a dump. I tried to make the best of it and tell myself that we would not be in there much but it didn't work...it was putting a major damper on our vacation so I had my husband to go and tell them that we had to have another room. They willingly put us in another room that actually had two full size beds in it and ceramic tile floors, it was much nicer and cleaner. The one bad thing about the second room was that one of the ceramic tiles on the floor by the bathroom had water that continued to leak out from under it and we had to put towels down on it to keep from slipping and falling. We plan to come back to Panama City Beach possibly next year but we will not stay at Top of the Gulf ever again. The pictures that are shown of the rooms when searching for a place to stay are very deceiving...our first room was not anything close to the picture I saw. This place is very old and outdated. I made sure to tell my friends how bad it was so that they would not have to suffer the anger and disgust that we had.
My husband & I just returned from a relaxing week at Top of the Gulf. The room was tastefully decorated in a cheerful decor & the owners of the condo we stayed in couldn't have been nicer. I read some of the other reviews about how awful some people thought Top of the Gulf was and the only thing I can say is they must have gotten the condo names mixed up. While this condo is older than some of the others on Panama City Beach, we thought it was terrific. I'm not thrilled with being on the 20-something floor of a huge high-rise, so Top of the Gulf's eight floors are just my speed. We rented from the owners directly so maybe that's why our condo was so nice (I don't know what the rooms look like if you just rent directly from the rental office); but look around at some of the 'rent by owner' sites on the internet. They have pictures of the rooms, so you know ahead of time what you're paying for. All in all, we had a great time and plan to spend a week in the fall at Top of the Gulf.
We were excited about this place at first...until we saw our room. The service was horrible, they didn't even change our sheets or vacuum. We found broken glass on the kitchen floor and the room smelled like smoke. The windows leaked whenever it rained and the ghetto bed hurt our backs. The only up side was the closeness to the beach, but if you can, stay somewhere else!!!
Loved the Sun and Fun
My wife nd I have been vacationing at the Top of The Gulf with our two daughters for the past 12 years and have always enjoyed our stay. The room is small, but most of the ones we have stayed in have been clean and cheerfully decorated. The people we meet here are all down to earth and not snooty like some of the biger places we've stayed. Most people come to the beach for the beach and not to sit in the room, so for the money, my wife and I, our daughters and new son-in-laws and one new grandson will continue to make Top of the Gulf our retreat for fun in the sun.
We hated it!
This was the worst condo I have ever seen! The first one they put us in wasn't so bad. Crappy view of the construction next door. The second one was absolutely horrible. I would not allow my child to remove her shoes because the carpet was filthy. The smell was that of a wet dog. The toilet was stained and worse, the toilet seat was all but down to the actual material toilet seats are made from. I instantly started crying as well as my child. My hubby had enough and told them we wanted a refund. They managed to get us a really nice condo at The Sunbird. I will be sure to tell everybody I know to not go to Top of The Gulf. Nasty, smelly, rundown, outdated!!!!!
Filth at Top of the Gulf YUK
Our thoughts about Top of the Gulf: Filthy, nasty, outdated, stained carpets and furniture, will NEVER stay here again. I have heard that there are nice units there, but ours was awful. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
The water and beach is "THE BEST"
stayed for 2 weeks in gulfside end unit, daily maid service is uncommon for a condo, but thats what we had, they gave us fresh towels and asked about any problems everyday.if you reserve a condo @ top of the gulf do your best to get an end unit, you are literally right over the beach these unit numbers always end with 23 or 25 as in 225, 325, 625, 623....the kiddy pool and the regular pool are very large and well kept, and the beach is just a few feet away, the only problem was the crowd there for spr. break.
Ripped at the gulf
couldn't check in for 3 hours--maid service awful,no alarm clock in room,no broom, reservations screwed up--they threatened to call security to remove our belongings due to their error at check in while we were at a softball game we drove 700 miles to see-and then conveniently decided we could stay 1 more nite when there was a reporter from atlanta there--while we were missing our kids ballgame-the only reason we went to pcb--i would never recommend this place to anyone--they couldn't do anything about our room not being ready because we had a group discount already..it was terrible..
Great , Love it.
A wonderful place to stay. Made for families. Really enjoyed it. Am going bk soon.
