Today we knew exactly what we wanted to Independence Pass!! Sarah and Josh had told us how awesome it was so we just had to find out for ourselves!

Independence Pass is only open in the summer so would be closed soon...if you look it up I'm sure it will show you the route but it basically takes you down through Minturn, then through Leadville (the highest city in ...

Eventually we had to walk on the highway hard shoulder again until we got to our least now we know for sure that both directions have no footpath for us to access the town...we really wanted to avoid having to drive but not sure walking on the hard shoulder when its snowy and dark is going to be the best idea either!

    An ...

... off our To Do list.

I am in heaven! There is actual water running in the Colorado River. In spots, you could call it whitewater. Trees are green. Grass is green. Colorado had enough rain this spring for rampant wild flowers still in bloom.

I am so happy to be home I puff up like a satisfied yellow balloon or something equally buoyant! After our ride and hike, there is the ...

... 104 degrees. It turned out to be the perfect spot to take a short break and relax. The water was very soothing and the minerals left my body feeling refreshed. Just make sure to shower off after leaving the pool or you will carry a smell reminiscent of rotten eggs all day from the elemental sulfur in the springs. I will definitely be going back to stay at the Lodge and spend more time there in the ...
