Galle, a town of many sensations
Galle is in the southwest coast that was hard hit by the tsunami. I cannot look at the ocean here and not be reminded of the horrible videos on the nightly news in 2006. There was one report about 1000 people dying on a train as it ran along the ocean - that supposedly was near here. Obviously, I don't know what Galle looked like before, but I don't see very much damage remaining and they say that new construction is of better ...
Gem Shops, Touts and Crappy Museums

(Kat: I was really confused looking at the before & after pictures from the Tsunami, until I realized that the "before" pictures were North side up and the "after" pictures were South side up!)

Now that's a beach!!
... whole island of Sri Lanka...but the resort only stopped serving it for 2 days. So we were stuck with water or Orange Tang drink...haha. Which wasn't really an issue for us...lol.
We enjoyed Vesak (Buddha day) at the resort. There were lanterns hung and lit everywhere, and small coconut dishes filled with wicks and kerosene placed all along the pathways to symbolize Buddha. What a sight! The lights reflecting off the ocean water, burning throughout ...
New Year Holiday

Had a wonderful break at Kingsley's Perl located just past 125km post, a quite villa facing the sea with a pool and small garden to play few out door games. Good cook at prepared according to your menu. Max 8 at a time in the 3 room villa.
Spent 3 nights from 15th lunch to 18th morning.
