        ... on Crete were our appetizers. The main cours was a skewer of pork encrusted with spices. Dessert was complementary but didn't include raki this time. That was good as we had already been provided with a dessert with raki from the hotel before dinner!

        ... it is said he used to pull himself up! Apparently he was very old. Patmos is lovely as I imagine all the islands are. Interestingly there were eucalyptus trees there which are a bit of a pest as they grow big very quickly. Apparently many people left there after an earthquake in 1956 and many have left recently due to the economic crisis to move to Darwin! Overnight we sailed to Rhodes and docked at daylight.         ... harbor area. We take a walk around the lake, which looks as if it empties into the Ionian Sea. Not sure- but I just can't get over the blue water. So blue and refreshing and hiding nothing. The fish, so many, many fish.

        ... Crete is 5 star and well deserved. Exceptional service, beautiful room, great location. They even surprised David with a birthday cake! A fax came for us to say that they had cancelled our hike of the Samaria Gorge due to bad weather. We were sooooo disappointed. It was the only reason I wanted to come to Crete.
