    ... Falls. We got to the trail, but chose not to do the hike. Again today, the storms were moving in. I didn't want to get caught up on a dirt road that was getting washed out. So we headed back down the mountain and back to Gunnison. The timing was almost perfect. We just got down to the paved road before the heavy rains came.

    The storms continue here in southwestern Colorado. The Blue Mesa Lake is full, the rivers are high, and flash flood warnings are in effect. In fact, the folks of Gunnison are concerned that this weekend's kayak competition may need to be postponed because the white water is to dangerous.

    ... too soon and is sorely missed.

    After walking through the sanctuary, Sheila and I headed back downtown to look at the shops - we didn't buy anything - all the stores were pretty high classed. Before leaving Aspen, we drove to the Ashcroft Ghost Town. In its heyday, this town was bigger than Aspen. Now it is a series of log cabin buildings. You can only imagine what life was in the town.

    ... slope for almost 5 miles. Once we got to the valley floor, we headed to the Gunnison Diversion Dam. That is there start of the white water stream that flows through the valley floor.

    On the way back to the coach, we ran into significant rain. Apparently there was some hail as well but we didn't experience any of that.

    ... I still do that despite being retired). To my shock, it was 4:00am!! I told Sheila about my error - she didn't have good words to say. Despite the Foobar, we headed off early. Lessons Learned - it is important to be able to tell time.
