Historical Traveler Reviews of The Two Hyde Park Square London
The Worsed serviced apartments in London
from danek5
This was by far our very worst London experience! Awful service, dreadful staff and horrific tasteless decor and cheap furniture, as well as small smelly dusty rooms...yes dusty! NEVER AGAIN! All I can say is STAY AWAY!
Got better eventually...

Was quite difficult finding a decent place to stay for my wife and baby, with so many negative reviews of hotel rooms being small and pricey in London. Finally decided to give this apartment place a shot.
Knowing there was 2 kinds of apartments ie. renovated superior and non-renovated standard, I decided to call ahead to check for possibility of getting the former but without much confirmation. Still, our fingers were crossed.
Upon travelling the tube from Liverpool station to Marble Arch station, we found the walk to the apartments quite a distance and a hassle as the tube exits were up and down at least 3 flights of stairs! It took us about 10-15 mins of dragging luggage and stuff to the apartments..phew.
While checking-in, we were told we have been upgraded to the superior... yes! Room 22. When asking if breakfast was provided, reply was not very courteous... quote 'we are a service apartment, not a hotel'...ouch. Reaching our room, we were not pleased to see our room was at the end of corridor where unwanted furniture was kept. Tables, beds, etc. were lined up right in front of our door. The apartment was not like the pictures of the superior but still not like the standard as well, so we quietly settled down. Baby bed given was a playpen which was quite useless for our colicky baby. Overall, clean but not perfect unit.
Found out the street noise was too loud and irritating at night, due to the indian restaurant downstairs and the heavy traffic outside. Asked for a change the next day and we got a much better unit, room 65. This was very much like the pictures and cleaner than the previous.... so much for our previous upgraded unit, it was probably the worst of the superior units. Still, the next 2 nights were very satisfactory and peaceful.
Laundry and dryer room is on the 3rd and 4th floors, 1 pound per use for each. Grocery store opposite, closes late.
Found out that the main road, closest to our hotel (Bayswater Road) had many buses and we made use of the 2.50 per day bus service for the entire trip, instead of the tube. The hop-on-off bus tours also stops at the corner of the park, 10 mins away.
The trip just got better in the end. Thanks for the upgrade and the change of apartments.
The BEST Place to Stay
from borntofly
My grandson and I spent a week in March at Two Hyde Park Square and we could not have been more pleased with the accomodation. There was plenty of space for us and convienently located for everything. The neighborhood is pleasant and safe with shops for everything you would need to set up housekeeping for a week or longer. We were close to many attractions, shopping and the tube to take us to anything not within walking distance. The staff was wonderfully helpful and pleasant. I can't say enough about their care for their guests. This is a hotel that will definitely have a return visit from this guest!! To the staff: Thank you for making our visit so pleasant!
Great place to stay

We stayed in a studio flat for one week. Our flat was clean, the bed was confortable and the hotel personnel was very helpful in every matter. The hotel is also well located within walking distance(less than 10 minutes) of the Heathrow express and of the Marble Arch underground station where there are more than 15 bus lines that come thru. You can go anywhere in London from that apartment hotel. You also have access to nice restaurants in the neighborhood as well as grocery stores. In all, a great place to stay.
What a gem of a find!

The previous couple of reviewers were spot on. Two Hyde Park Square is excellent, and good value too in expensive London. We were there in Dec 03, and stayed in one of the renovated superior rooms - I made a point to see one of the same-size non-renovated rooms - they are really not that bad either. The convenience of the mini-marts and the laundry service within walking distance is superb. But be warned - don't buy any umbrellas from the laundry shop around the corner - I made the mistake of getting one from there one rainy morning, and got ripped off for 10 pounds, when it actually cost about 3 or 4 pounds. This is one hotel I will definitely return to - location is great, just take the 94 bus down to marble arch, oxford circus, picadilly etc from Bayswater Rd, 4 mins walk away. Enjoy.
Not luxurious but a pretty good family deal
from JWB_Amsterdam_NL
I spent a long weekend at Two Hyde Park in December 2003 with my family. We wanted something bigger than a typical hotel room, plus liked the idea of a kitchenette so we didn't have to eat out for every meal. The "one bedroom apartment" at 2HPS turned out to be a pretty good deal at 110 pounds/night (though calling it an "apartment" is a bit of a stretch...maybe room-and-a-half is more accurate). The double bed in the "bedroom" and the fold-out couch gave us adequate room for 2 adults and 2 kids. As another reviewer mentioned, the kitchenette is about the size of a phone booth but did provide a small refrigerator, sink and microwave, plus plates and silverware. The room was okay and any quibbles were pretty minor - the remote on the TV didn't work, the tub was missing a drain plug, stuff like that - and though the furniture had seen better days it wasn't too bad. The location was excellent for a family: a fairly quiet area (ask for a room facing the back) about equidistant between Paddington and Marble Arch, and only a couple blocks from Hyde Park. Service was decent: basically indifferent, though as other reviewers have mentioned Victor (effectively the "concierge") was very helpful and always ready to sell you a ticket to something. One thing to remember: the cleaning service is only on weekdays, so staying Friday-Monday meant our room was never cleaned. All in all, not the lap of luxury, but if you just want a little extra space in a good location for a decent price, not a bad choice at all.
Convenient & roomy

Stayed here for three nights over Thanksgiving. It is in the process of being renovated. The extra room was very appreciated. We had a one bedroom that could easily sleep four due to a sofa bed in the living room. There is a tiny kitchen only big enough for one person, but fine for fixing breakfast. The unit was very clean. We did a timeshare exchange, but check their website for some very cheap rates during certain months. I would stay there again. It is about a 10 minute walk to Marble Arch area. It was easy to flag down taxis at the corner of the street.

I stayed at Two Hyde Park Square in October, 2003. It is a very clean, newly renovated apartment hotel with VERY friendly and professional service. It cannot be beaten when considering price and location. If the price per night is a little expensive for you, just think about all the money you can save by cooking your meals in the kitchen in the room. I originally booked into another hotel that was twenty pounds cheaper and that was a huge mistake. End your search for a hotel here because this hotel is excellent value for your money.

I stayed at "2 Hyde Park Square" for a week in Ocrober, 2003. Beautifully bright studio apartment. Fully refurbished. The staff are very nice and helpful. Check their web site. I will definitely stay there if I go to London. Near Oxford street in a less crowded square. Thanks to the other review, I checked it out and loved it. Happy trips.
Fantastic self contained apartments
from A TripAdvisor Member
I have been staying at 2 Hyde Park Square frequently over the past four years and can assure you that this is a fantastic place to stay. The rooms are all self contained apartments ranging from Studio to one bedroom units ( there is a two bedroom unit but only available on weekly basis and expensive!) There are two qualities of rooms - that of standard or superior - the difference between the two is that the Superior Rooms have been recently renovated. What l like most about the rooms is the anount of space- the rooms are huge as about twice the size of a standard London hotel room with a compact kitchen and good size bathroom. If travelling as single or couple, my first choice would be the Superior Studio followed by the superior one bedroom - the standard rooms have seen better days and is worth paying the bit extra for the superior rooms. The location is great - it is a very quiet area but only 5-10 mins walk to Marble Arch and 2 mins to Hyde Park - there is several restaurants surrounding the hotel including an expensive but nice Indian restaurant beneath the apartments - there is supermarkets and off licence stores in close proximity as well as laundromat. The staff at Hyde Park Square are fantastic in particular the legendary Victor and Shane - they can not do enough for you - rooms are cleaned daily except for weekends. Getting to Heathrow is easy whether it be Heathrow Express to Paddington (10 min walk) or Victor organises door to door shuttles at a good rate. On one occassion we made the mistake of staying at Citadines Holborn instead of 2HPS - you can not compare the two - 2HPS is so superior to Citadines which is rated in your top 100 - surprised at that! Once you stay here you will not stay anywhere else.
