... When we got done with the trail I was advised by Kristi and an end had just come to our days of off roading. Something about "Never Again" followed by a middle finger salute told me that it was going to be another five years or more before I could talk her back into this type of adventure. We ended the day at Slow Groovin BBQ. A heaping serving of Poutine, a few cold beers, and some good BBQ and all was good in the world ...

... told him to walk down the trail around the corner and all our questions would be answered. He was right, it was spectacular.
Driving through Colorado was amazing, the mountains are beautiful. Once again, we weren't on the interstate often, so I think we got to see a lot more. I'd only been to Colorado Springs a couple of times and Denver once, so this was all entirely new to me. We stayed in Glenwood Springs, Colorado Sunday night.

We headed to Aspen early in the morning. It was our attempt to see some wildlife. Well the scenery was beautiful but we didn't see any wildlife. We stopped off at a scenic overlook of the San Juan mountains. In addition to the mountains we also seen the large reservoir. No real roads to get to the lake, you have to do some off roading.

We arrived in Aspen at about 11am. We visited the John Denver Sanctuary. As a kid, ...

... Heart of the Rockies", settled in 1880. Had coffee at a local cafe, all bib and braces overalls and big hats. Sampled peach pie- yum!

Drove through Buena Vista then past Mt Princeton, 14,000 feet. Travelled along the Arkansas River then up Independence Pass (named by prospectors who defied the local law) from Twin Lakes to the top at 3703 metres. Thick snow everywhere. Glad we had boots and anoraks. Climbed the last 5 metres for ...
