... lakes and waterways. Vehicles of course drive on 'right’ side of road here and Canada has metric system measurements since 1960’s, like Aust. Temp 25O, but rose to 34o by the end of the day!!!!

Our bus and passengers boarded the ferry at Nanaimi for the 1 hour crossing of Georgia Strait to the mainland at Horseshoe Bay. It was a smooth relaxed crossing over the water.

... the winding roads, steep cliffs, the way the driver took the corners and the passengers were tossed around, it did have a little taint of the Mad Mountain Man driver from China about it. But he locals just swayed from side to side and Mindy fell fast asleep. After two hours and thirty minutes we were in Whistler fossicking in the grocery store for the makings of dinner. ... We started around 10am I believe; once I had picked up Jess, Beccy, their friend Carl and the dog Bentley. The start seemed to go well. It was freezing at the start of the hike and by lake 1, I was concerned for how much we might actually freeze up the top! The ground seemed to be in ok shape with a little bit of soft snow covering the trail. After a while, we noticed some patches of ice here and there, but were easily enough to pass on the side. ... exploring until I heard from the others. I went to watch the salmon run. That's a cool thing to see. Sooo many fishies. Probably at least 100 in this one section. I wish I could have walked into the water and just caught a few for a feed. They were massive and in such shallow water. So that's my first glance at a salmon run. My expectation was not met though. ... to eat we ended up having a beautiful Italian dinner at our dodgy hotel! The oldies headed to bed while Cathy and Carolyn raged on at a local bar catching up on news with free wifi and a beer as we were too stingy to pay for it at our hotel!
