The drive to Grayton Beach State Park from St. George Island was a breathtaking one. There was a consistent light mist and some patches of thick fog, but in between the patches of fog we passed through towns straight out of Pleasantville with glimpses of the ocean that stretched on forever in gorgeous turquoise hues. It's busiest here in the summer and spring, when school is out. In the winter, most of our visitors are retirees from up North (like where you're from!). They call themselves Snowbirds, because they head South for the winter just like birds.
Santa Rosa Beach was originally named Hogtown Bayou. That doesn't sound nearly as nice, does it?
