... our rooms are good.....we get to catch the river in all its moods. And it has had a few since we arrived. No traffic on the river at the moment as the bar is closed to most shipping (except the local crab boats as the season has just started) as there is a bit of a wind gusting - 70 - 80 knots about the coast and early there was fog and now heavy rain. It has not spoiled our time here ...

Ecola State Park came with a small $5 fee but it was worth it. First we went to the view point where we had stunning views over the beach inlets along the coast and a little lighthouse perched on a lonely rock in the ocean. It was nice to just sit and watch the ocean for a short while ...

Sidenote: Did you notice our group is now only 13 instead of 15?! Teri ended up in the emergency room early this morning with Les by her side. Seems something ...

... a cow moo-ing by projected through a loud speaker on car driving round the village. Eventually an announcement explains that this is the regular test for the tsunami warning system. (The moo-ing continues followed by the repeated announcement.) The next day we discover that this happens EVERY MORNING. I loved the logic that bovine sounds were the most calming and least panic inducing ...

      Doin' the Oregon Coast

... Oregon coast. The sun was out, sky is blue and the big question is which cute little coast town do we honor with our presence?

Seaside is almost like Coney Island with its indoor Carousel and plethora of cheap eateries and even cheaper souvenir stores. We ate at Finn’s, because it seemed appropriate and wandered around. The beach here is quite different than back home in northern California. It is very broad, like Coronado beach near ...
