We grab a train on to Clitheroe today to stay at her grandpa’s house. It’s always nice to see a big city again, but I look forward to embracing the small town life already. Those kids last night definitely topped the cake. Now we make our way back to one of her childhood homes ...

Apparently Stage 1 of the Tour kicks off today in York and the riders will see a giant swath of West and North Yorkshire. I have to admit the main focus for us what the preparation for the next day and the all important climb up Holme Moss in Stage 2. The next decision was probably not the best, at least in Dan's mind. I wanted to see the Cotswolds, a picturesque section of England, and had mapped out a few "important" villages to see. I thought it would be great to get off the main roads and at least see the little towns, even if we couldn't stop for long. It didn't go quite as well as I had hoped; problems ...

... some breakfast to take with us for the 3.5 hour journey. The countryside was very green and in parts there were still signs of all the rain they had with so much water lying everywhere. We passed many towns between Edinburgh and Manchester, with the hope we would see some huge castles but then we realised they wouldn't want to have their places near a train line!!
