I made a lovely mulberry, almond milk
and banana smoothie with a rice cake covered in peanut butter and
honey. Nothing like fresh mulberries! I cannot wait to go to the van
Hest farm and pick from their tree!

I was placed in Floating today with the
keeper Karen. I have never worked with her and formally met her
today. She is in good humour and plucky; great for an upbeat day,
even though it is 30 degrees and full sun. I was put to filling up
          the ...

So the day has finally arrived! After planning and plotting for over a year, Gary and I are heading off on our fabulous Euro adventure. Holly and Lucy took us to the airport and we said our farewells. We will miss them and Monty very much. So...adios Australia! ...

and mammal snacks (they are humanely gassed, I am told). In one large
stall are two Demera hair sheep. They are sweet, spotted, and have
long, fatty tails. Then there are the five guinea pigs (Boo, Luigi,
Mario, Millhouse and Ralph), who are very
          calm!

Out in the yard area are four Chinese
silky hens and a silver laced Wyandotte hen, a massive
wild-bar-looking sow names...ready?...Oink, and a small herd of

We were up early and drove as close to the water as possible south. There is a long sandy beach with lots of waves for seemingly ever hence The Gold Coast. There are so many high rises at some points you would assume there is a business district but they are all condos and rental properties. Gold Coast Airport seemed to be receiving new planes every five minutes. This must be one of the go to places ...

Australia Zoo & the best day of my life

... around the exam room, but at least they knew it could walk okay. It was weighed and then sedated while we were there. It was so good to see the work that the zoo does, and it's all funded by donations which is pretty incredible. On the way out there was a room full of little incubators where the babies are kept and looked after and hand fed until they are strong enough to and big enough to fend for themselves a little. I think I loved the hospital a little more than the zoo. When ...
