... motor and drove upto the Hollywood sign (well as close as we could) and went down to Venice beach, seemed to walk for hours up and down there. On the strip there was various stalls and shops all selling hats, jewellery etc etc and was a pleasant walk...had to do some exercise to walk off the large quantity of food we already have had. We had a lovely dinner on the beach and took the long drive back to Santa Clarita...we mistakenly went back during rush hour...never ...
Los Angeles, California, United States bosstoneThe supershuttle picked me up from the office where of course I was running late...resulting iin the failure 2 pack the water bottles and wet wipes I had in the truck (but not yet in my bag). Southwest to LAX where I had to take a shuttle 2 a different gate and had the pleasure of going thru security again. Thankfully the British Airways agent checked my bag thru 2 Istanbul so I won't have 2 deal with it at ...
los angeles, California, United States jmandell1... was Mann's Chinese Theatre, where they have a lot of hand/foot/nose/etc prints in the concrete, we saw a couple of famous names there. We also went past the Kodac Theatre where they have the Oscars every year. There is so much to see in just that one street, but time was limited as we had to get the kids home for dinner and bedtime.
Los Angeles, California, United States sotas... the theory of the American high 5 at a party. After six months of travelling in the hustle and bustle of Asia, it initially felt distinctly weird to be back in the western world and speaking English again. However, the United States grew on me as the three weeks passed quite quickly. One of the surprising things that made my stay the more pleasant was the friendliness of the locals. A girl on the street calling her friend on her cell phone for advice when I asked her for ...
Los Angeles, United States gene_aw... gone through incredibly fast since arriving in America!!! Eeek.. The supermarkets have a good range but the prices also vary quite a bit, went to nearers supermarket to us which was the nicest supermarket I've ever seen but was super expensive, probably because they had three people serving at every check out, one to unload he basket/ttrolley, one to scan items and one to pack the items into bags... crazy and sooo unnecessary! We then found another supermarket that was entirely self ...
Los Angeles, California, United States myates... Grill - order my favorite - Pasta Milano (bowtie pasta with chicken and sundried tomato - um, Chris is wanting some, I can tell), 2 blackberry creme italian sodas, and a triple berry tiramisu. The Best part is - it was free - thanks to our host - but I can't tell you who - I'd have to kill you then. Came to Crestmont and it was truly breathtaking. I forget how lovely it is - when the Sun is shining and ...
Rancho Palos Verdes, California, United States droeh... the plane, no shower, most likely still smelled with my crocs on and waltzing into the posh stores! Too funny. I waited to do my browsing after I went to Sephora so that they could see my bag. See! I did buy something! Just not at your store... I wish I could've spent a little while longer in LA driving around to hit some of the hot spots around the area. Actually, Air Canada nearly gave me that opportunity considering they had me booked on the flight home at 2230 but didn't have a ...
Los Angeles, California, United States bajean... Cook Islands each week, there are no aircraft engineers, no spare planes and fewer airport shops than Ronaldsway! And so we joined the other tired, angry passengers and were shipped off to various hotels to wait for another plane to be sent out to us from New Zealand. The next day our plane arrived and after a 9 1/2 hour flight, we made it to LAX late in the evening. What our hostel on Venice beach lacked in luxury, it certainly made up for in location ...
Los Angeles, California, United States laurieandjilly... for 2 taxis at a time. So we did exactly what everyone tells you not to do - we took a rogue taxi. The first rule is to call a taxi. If you take a taxi from the street it should have a company name on it. Well, we did do 1 thing right. If you do take an unmarked taxi, it should be an older driver. I meandered towards the fence and the driver motioned me over. Skip the line? That's my style. Away we went, receiving a mini-tour along ...
